food, glorious food

Anyone seen the movie "Julie and Julia"?

I quite liked it actually.. started getting me thinking about cooking through a book and blogging about it. haha - I'm sure alot have people have started doing that.

But let's be serious people.. who could do that?! Not me, congrats if you can, but not me.
Instead of cooking my way through a cookbook - and a French one at that I think I might share some of my favourite recipes with you from time to time. Feel free to hit me back with some of yours!

On a French side note: For you to not think I'm bagging out the French cooking...My great friend Karen had her 15th wedding anniversary the other day (woo!) and she decided to cook Beef Bourguignon and I got to have a taste and can honestly say YUMMO..

So .. my first recipe for you all is from the Women's Weekly 'cheesecakes' book.

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CHEESECAKE

ingredients:

125g plain chocolate biscuits
75g butter, melted
150g dark eating chocolate, melted

Filling
3 teaspoons gelatine
1/4 cup (60ml) water
500g cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 cup (250ml) cream
150g dark eating chocolate, melted
100g white eating chocolate, melted
2 tablespoons cream, extra

1/ Line 22cm springform tin with plastic wrap
2/ Process biscuits until find. Add butter; process until combined. Press mixture over base of tin. Refrigerate for 30mins.
3/ Make filling by sprinkling gelatine over the water in small heatproof jug; stand jug in small saucepan of simmering water. Stir until gelatine dissolves; cool 5 mins.
4/ Beat cheese, sugar and egg yolks in medium bowl with electric mixer until smooth; beat in cream. Stir in dark chocolate and gelatine mixture.
5/ Beat egg whites in small bowl with electric mixer until soft peaks form; fold into cheese mixture. Pour filling into tin.
6/ Combine white chocolate and extra cream in small jug. Swirl white chocolate mixture through cheesecake mixture. Refrigerate overnight.
7/ Spread dark chocolate over baking paper to a 20cm square. When set, break chocolate into small pieces.
8/ Remove cheesecake from tin to serving plate. Press chocolate pieces around side of cheesecake.
9/ Eat & Get Fat. (haha)

Enjoy Peeps.
